Malala's story of her fighting to receive education has been adapted for younger readers. Her courageous story is told alongside of simple illustrations. All children can be inspired by this story as they also learn about what life is like in other countries.
I have read Malala's original book, and I was so happy to see that it has been adapted for younger readers to also enjoy this incredible story. This text was perfectly adapted to remain informative of the issues she faced and the climate of her home country of Pakistan without becoming too boring. There is also a pronunciation guide, timeline of Malala's life, and glossary which can help clarify various elements of this story for readers. I rate this book four out of four stars!

Brielle,
ReplyDeleteI think this is absolutely phenomenal that the book was adapted for younger readers allowing them to comprehend her story and allowing reader's to understand her fight to receive education. A lot of younger children don't realize that having education is a privilege and not everyone receives this privilege. It's a nice way to get student's involved in moral obligations and what they can do in the future to help (giving awareness to what's occurring in different counties), it also shows them that although they may not like school someday's they should be grateful they are given the opportunities to attend, it can be a humbling experience. The book seem's like a great choice, especially with the use of the pronunciation guide which will definitely help independent readers!
Hello Brielle,
ReplyDeleteI love this book choice! I read this with my stepdaughter for a book report she needed to do. She was at a total loss for which book to pick and this was one of the options. I was surprised more kids did not select it. It is not only a great story about a great person, but a great kid. I love when kids can see other kids making an impact!
i've actually never read it but i have heard very good things about this book and the fact that it very relatable for children is a plus!
ReplyDeleteI have read the original book that Malala wrote, but I have not seen this adaption for younger readers. I will definitely need to check it out now!
