This story is set in post-Civil War Massachusetts. Readers follow along with sisters Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy as they adjust to this new era in their lives and the country. Readers are introduced to what life was like for young women at this time American history as they walk through the lives of these sisters'.
This story is a classic that has been enjoyed by so many for years. Louisa May Alcott does an incredible job of telling this fictional story while also staying true to that time period and what was happening. Readers can not compare it to the movie version that just came out, as well! I rate this book four out of four stars for older readers.

I remember reading this book when I was younger and absolutely loved it. It did a great job of giving readers a glimpse back in time and was also fairly easy to read along with.
ReplyDeleteHey Brielle,
ReplyDeleteI LOVED this book as a girl! One thing I found really special about it was how different and nuanced each of the sisters were and how readers can each relate to different aspects of them. I remember getting super invested in the characters and frustrated by them. I would love to learn more about the impact of historical fiction on young women since women's roles and rights were so different them. Are these books more or less empowering? Or do they serve a different purpose? Either way this book is a classic and personal favorite.
